Sunitha Sarathy is an Indian singer who performs in both Indian and Western classical music genres. She also plays in numerous church choirs as a gospel singer. Sarathy began in cinema playback in 2002 after winning the "Virgin Voice Choice" contest, a joint project of Channel V and Virgin Records in 2000.
She made her playback singing debut in the Tamil film Yei! Nee Romba Azhagey Irruke, performing the prelude and interlude portions of the song "In Naanum Naanillai" alongside Srinivas and Sujatha Mohan. Sarathy has almost 200 film songs in several languages to her credit, as well as performances as a singer-keyboardist-percussionist in a variety of Western music genres such as classical, jazz, soul and R&B, neo-soul and quiet storm, and prodigious production of gospel songs.
